Liverpool boss Rodgers lining up Barcelona keeper Valdes as Reina successor

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to move for Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes. The People says Valdes will have only 12 months left on his contract at the end of the season and talks on a new deal have stalled.

His situation has sparked interest at Anfield, where Pepe Reina - Valdes's deputy with the all-conquering Spanish national team - is once more at the centre of transfer talk with Arsenal reported to be interested.

Manchester City are also keeping tabs on Valdes, although the 30-year-old will be aware that Etihad No.1 Joe Hart is unlikely to be shifted easily.
