Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is watching Udinese defender Danilo. The Brazilian, 27, is the type of ball-playing centre-half which Rodgers feels his defence is currently missing.

The Reds boss has concerns that Martin Skrtel's style doesn't fit into his playing system and he is keeping tabs on Danilo's progress this season.

A move in January cannot be ruled out, particularly with Juventus also weighing up a winter market push.
