Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to see Rickie Lambert in action tonight.
Lambert will lead Liverpool's line against Capital One Cup tie with Middlesbrough as Rodgers freshens up his side ahead of Saturday's Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield.
"He's been training very, very well," said Rodgers. "He came in before pre-season to get himself fit, played in a lot of the games, was one of the only strikers there and got himself to a good level of fitness.
"This will be a game he will start in. He's come off the bench and made an impact for us."
