Liverpool boss Rodgers happy with Firmino progress

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is happy with the progress summern signing Roberto Firmino is making since his arrival at the club.

Brazilian forward Firmino joined the Reds in a £29million deal from Bundesliga club Hoffenheim, but is yet to make an impact in the Premier League.

However, Rodgers is backing him to soon find his feet in his new surroundings and deliver for the Reds.

Rodgers said: "He's looking good in training and as each week goes by he's getting fitter and stronger.

"I've been impressed with his quality – his touch and all of that which is natural - but his ability to work and press the game is one of the key things for us when we were bringing him in.

"And he really understands the pressure and the intensity. He's come from a league which is physical also so he will certainly be in contention over the coming weeks."
