Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was happy to hand youngster Ryan McLaughlin a debut in their defeat to AS Roma.

Rodgers feels McLaughlin didn't let himself down at Fenway Park.

"There were also lots of young players gaining invaluable experience against top players like Bojan and Totti. That's going to help them going forward," he said.

"Young Ryan McLaughlin playing at right-back, his first game, a fantastic experience for him playing against Totti, a legend of the game."
