Liverpool boss Rodgers hands Assaidi chance in Euro clash

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is taking a shadow squad to Europa League opponents Young Boys of Berne.

Rodgers will leave skipper Steven Gerrard, keeper Pepe Reina and hitman Luis Suarez at home for the match against Young Boys.

That has opened the door for a host of Kop rookies as the Reds get their Europa League group campaign off the ground.

Rodgers made the decision with Sunday's visit of 19-time champs Manchester United in mind.

German new-boy Samed Yesil will feature, while another 18-year-old, Spaniard Suso, stands by for a full debut. Others on the trip include 19-year-old centre-back Andre Wisdom and Moroccan winger Oussama Assaidi, 24, a £2million summer buy.
