Liverpool boss Rodgers hails character of England U21 youngsters

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers hailed the character of England's U21 players during the disgraceful scenes in Serbia.

Rodgers claims the England rookies subjected to the vile abuse in Serbia will emerge stronger characters for it.

Kop stars Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson were involved in the mayhem and Rodgers said: "I thought all the players and staff were incredible in how they coped.

"I especially felt for Danny Rose, who I worked with at Watford when he was just a kid. What he had to put up with was unacceptable.

"I've spoken to Raheem and Jordan and they're fine. As young players it's about gaining experiences but they will be better for it."
