Liverpool boss Rodgers furious playing Swansea today

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is furious having to play Swansea City today.

The Swans clash is hitting Liverpool's hopes of recovering from a two-goal deficit against Zenit St Petersburg in the Europa League AND damaging their chances of qualifying for next season.

Rodgers may rest key men against the Swans to keep them fresh and that will also reduce their hopes of qualifying for Europe through their league position.

The Anfield boss rapped; "I am very disappointed with the Premier League. The game was scheduled for February 24 [when Swansea are in the Capital One Cup final].

"There were a number of weeks when we could have played the game.

"To put it on when we have had a game on Monday, a trip to Russia and a second leg next Thursday is another example of the Premier League NOT helping the teams whatsoever.

"Every other country in Europe will try to help - some even play their games on a Friday before Europe. It's bemusing to say the least."
