Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen on Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo.

But the Daily Express says Reds hopes of bringing Cardozo to Anfield in January appear to be dashed with the forward set to sign a contract extension for Benfica.

Cardozo, who has been tracked by Liverpool for a while, is keen to commit to Benfica for another two years.

This comes as a huge blow to Brendan Rodgers, who intends to be active in the January transfer window.
