Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says next year's World Cup need not be Steven Gerrard's England swansong.
Gerrard will be 34 when the tournament starts in Brazil and be heading into the final 12 months of his current contract but such is the way he looks after himself, Rodgers is adamant he will be able to keep going for club and country for as long as he desires.
"Steven is a big player, and the big players score the big goals and make the big contributions in the big games," said Rodgers. "That is what determines a great player - and that is what Steven Gerrard is. He is at the stage in his life where everybody looks at him as the leader, captain and inspiration.
"But you can't forget this is a world class player. Steven still has a lot to contribute and he will have well over 100 Premier League goals by the time he finishes. He's a remarkable man, a remarkable captain. England should be honoured to have some like him on and off the pitch.
"People may have been nervy at 1-0 (against Poland) yet he still drives the team on and has that fitness and quality. I have no worries about him for this weekend. He may have played in midweek but I'm sure he will be flying for Newcastle."
