The trail to Newcastle United has gone cold, with West Ham United remaining the most realistic option.
Its understood Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is also monitoring developments, though he is unlikely to move until the futures of Luka Modric and Manchester City's Emmanuel Adebayor are decided.
