Liverpool boss Rodgers brings in top sports shrink Steve Peters

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has brought in sports shrink Steve Peters.

The Sun says "mind mechanic" Steve Peters, who played a crucial role in the nation's Olympic glories at London 2012, is the man Rodgers has pinned his hopes on.

Team GB cycling heroes Victoria Pendleton, Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins all worked with Peters - and credited him as having a massive influence in their conquering the world.

He has also linked up with Welsh footballer Craig Bellamy and snooker star Ronnie O'Sullivan, while the FA are also looking at bringing him into their system.

Rodgers said: "As a manager, command can be lonely. When you are the leader and trying to drive and lead the club forward, it is always good to have a different set of eyes with different experiences.

"At the clubs I have been at I have always used neurologists and at Swansea I used a Dutch guy who was brought into Chelsea and worked with Petr Cech.

"I wanted to bring someone in, but I took my time to make sure we could get someone who could really help performance and this guy is of that level.

"There is nothing forced, but it has been great to see the reaction. It is not a psychologist - I repeat - it is more neurology."
