Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was delighted to see Steven Gerrard come through England's clash with Israel unscathed.
Gerrard, who is struggling with a broken toe he picked up last month, did not require a painkilling injection and he could feature against Portsmouth if he reports no ill effects from Wednesday's clash with Russia.
"Steven did not need an injection and the fact he played with no problems and did well is good news for England, but even better news for Liverpool, thinking about our game with Portsmouth," said Benitez.
