Liverpool boss Klopp: We could have scored four against Spurs

Jurgen Klopp felt his Liverpool side were good value for as many as four goals in their EFL Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds defeated Spurs 2-1 at Anfield to progress to the quarter-finals of the league cup competition but Klopp feels it should have been a much more comfortable victory following Vincent Janssen's 76th-minute penalty.

"Yes, when you see our chances and see the chances of Tottenham," said the German.

"The penalty made it a little bit closer – that was the only really difficult situation for us. After this, with 10 or 12 minutes to go, it is like it is – it's a game-changer.

"But we had the opportunities, we had the chances, we could have scored two, three or four [more] times. But we don't live in dreamland and it's not that you can think about closing the game at 3-0 or 4-0 early enough that everybody knows we go to the quarter-final.

"We didn't score in the moments when we could have. They scored the penalty. 2-1 is close but now it is not interesting anymore because we are in the next round."

Daniel Sturridge had Liverpool two goals up with his double coming either side of the break before Janssen sent a scare through the Reds camp.
