Liverpool boss Klopp upset with Echo; claims media over-reaction

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp exchanged words with the Liverpool Echo at Friday's media conference over one of their headlines.

Klopp took exception to a headline on the front page of Wednesday's Liverpool Echo which read: 'Join the club Jurgen, we're all sick of this.'

“I saw what you wrote 'We are also sick of it'," he said.

“That's populistic. Absolutely. I was in the petrol station when I saw it.

“I stood there and thought 'Oh, that's a nice cross from me, he thought from a six-yard distance, come on throw it in and get a thumbs up from everyone.' If you cannot cool it, how can I? I don't talk to the people."

Klopp insists there's been an over reaction to their form slump.

He said: “You really think there would be one per cent of a reason that I would panic?

“It's football. We have eight points. In four games we were the clear better side but we didn't get the results.

“Now we could panic because of not getting the results or we say 'It's still not good enough playing football.' Do you think any team in the world loves playing against us in this moment?

“Or hope like Burnley that they only have to go for set-pieces and you get whatever you want and you can concede 35 shots on target or whatever and it's clear you will be lucky? It's not like this.

“It's always the same, 'playing good football you have no results', 'the same defending problems like 500 years ago'. You can talk about this but I cannot think like this.

“I'm not in panic. I don't think that is the main message at the moment, not to get in panic because I cannot imagine that anybody thinks about this."
