Liverpool boss Klopp to hand Ward fresh chance against Blackburn

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is ready to start Danny Ward against friendly opponents Blackburn Rovers today.

The Liverpool Echo says Ward will start Liverpool's next friendly at Blackburn on Thursday as Jurgen Klopp continues to ponder his goalkeeper options.

The Reds continue their pre-season preparations by making the trip to Ewood Park to take on the newly-promoted Championship side.

After it emerged last week Klopp was willing to give Ward a chance to move ahead of Loris Karius in the pecking order, there was surprise when the German played most of the goalless draw at Bury on Saturday with Ward not involved.

However, the Blackburn game is considered the more testing, meaning Ward – who made just one senior appearance last season – will be handed the gloves.
