Liverpool boss Klopp plotting new role for James Milner

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is plotting a new firefighter's role for James Milner.

The Daily Star says Klopp is said to be convinced that Miner can fill in at left back if needed, with the versatile England international finishing Thursday morning's 1-0 International Champions Cup defeat to Chelsea in that role.

Klopp has already welcomed seven new signings to Merseyside ahead of the new season, in the form of Loris Karius, Marko Grujic, Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan, Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum and Alex Manninger.

But his belief in Milner's adaptability could see his summer spend stop at the £71m mark.
