Liverpool boss Klopp: Lallana red card not nice. We've spoken

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits Adam Lallana's dismissal with the U23s this week "was not nice".

Returning from injury, Lallana was sent off for manhandling a young Tottenham player in an U23 game.

Klopp says Lallana could make his squad for their trip to Southampton, though admits speaking to the midfielder about his actions.

He said: “We wanted for all the boys – including Alberto Moreno, but he couldn't play, he had a little problem – to have match time.

“We wanted him (Lallana) to have the match time he had, 60 minutes around about. It's not nice, I spoke to him about that of course – that's not how it should be and he's not happy about it.

“We understand it was not the challenge before the situation but it was another challenge before that.

“Adam is not happy about the reaction, as I wasn't, but it doesn't change my mind about Adam. He is on the way back – again.

“This season, he was already back a few times, but it was a little bit early, so we will not rush him for sure."
