Liverpool boss Klopp has realistic expectations for Ings

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned supporters not to get too carried away with the pre-season form of Danny Ings.

The 23-year-old striker netted his second goal of the summer as the Reds defeated Wigan Athletic 2-0 at the DW Stadium.

Ings missed most of last season due to a serious knee injury and although he is in solid form right now, Klopp says there cannot be too many expectations on the former Burnley ace.

"Ings is a real finisher," he said.

"I don't know how much percentage of his fitness he is, and in the Premier League you need to be 100 per cent fit, but it's really good for the moment.

"It's a squad, and the pressure is in the squad. I don't have to say: 'If you don't train good enough you can't play.'

"Everyone can see it, can see they have to give everything every day in training. We are going in the right direction."
