Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is eyeing Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng.

Boateng has stated in the past month that he may leave Bayern this summer for a "new challenge".

BILD says Klopp wants former Manchester City defender Boateng to partner Virgil van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool's defence next season.

And now Bayern Munich are willing to let the player depart the club this summer.

The asking price is set at £40m for Boateng, who struggled in the Premier League earlier in his career but has since made over 200 appearances for Bayern and is likely to star for Germany at the World Cup this summer.
