Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Joe Allen is closing on a starting place.

Allen has only started once in the league so far this season, though Klopp admitted at his pre-match press conference that the No.24 is providing food for thought.

Asked about his chances, the boss said: “[He is] very close. He got a little knock on the shoulder at Leicester – not the biggest problem but a little problem.

“Hopefully, everything is OK. We have to see how he feels today. But [he is] very close, in good shape, obviously good shape and that's very important for us."
