Liverpool boss Klopp allays fears of broken ankle for Origi

Jurgen Klopp admitted it was not nice seeing Liverpool's Divock Origi laying on the pitch on Wednesday night.

The Belgian striker was injured by a Ramiro Funes Mori tackle five minutes into the second half and required a stretcher to leave the pitch as the Reds hammered Everton 4-0 in the Merseyside derby at Anfield.

Klopp was thrilled with the result but insists that the injury to Origi, while not all that serious, put a massive dampener on the outcome.

"4-0 against Everton, if you told me before the game I would take it but now it is spoiled by the injury," he said.

"The situation with Divock Origi is not good. The first reaction was maybe it's broken but it's not broken.

"The ankle is twisted so we have to see. The season is only four weeks. I am happy that it is not broken.

"When you want to have success you need luck with injuries. Seeing him on the floor is not too nice so I couldn't enjoy the second half too much."

Origin nodded home James Milner's cross in the 43rd minute before Mamadou Sakho also got on the end of a lovely ball from the veteran midfielder to double the advantage on the stroke of half-time.

Daniel Sturridge produced a customary cool finish just after the hour-mark before Philippe Coutinho wrapped it up with a fine strike on 76 minutes as the Reds grabbed local bragging rights with a stellar showing.
