Liverpool's ownership issues could decide Roy Hodgson's bid for Swiss whizkid Xherdan Shaqiri.
The 18 year-old midfielder is a top target for Hodgson, whose Swiss contacts have urged him to go for the youngster.
Basel rate Shaqiri at €8 million and are aware that Liverpool, along with Inter Milan and Barcelona, are keen.
If Liverpool's current owners continue to keep a tight reign on the purse strings, Hodgson may be forced to gamble by waiting to sign Shaqiri on a Bosman next June. His current Basel deal expires in June 2011.
