Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has assured Fernando Torres he won't overload him.
Torres' workload at Anfield has been blamed for his spate of injuries.
And on playing three games a week, Hodgson told liverpoolfc.tv: "He's as capable as anyone else is. But how fair is it to ask any football player to play three highly competitive matches in seven days on a regular basis?
"The thing about Fernando Torres is that he went to the World Cup with an injury, played throughout with an injury, and we are anxious now to make sure he is fully fit this season.
"When fully fit he's as capable as any player of playing three games in seven days, but I'm sincerely hoping with the size of our squad that I won't have to (ask him to do that all the time) because if that's what happens then I'll lose players, which is what happened to me at Fulham. "
