Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson insists no approach from Inter Milan has been fielded for Javier Mascherano.
Mascherano's agent has insisted Inter - now managed by ex-Reds chief Rafa Benitez - are lining up an offer.
Masch has two years left on his contract and Hodgson added: "As far as I know, we have had no approach from Inter."
Hodgson hopes there is good reason behind his failure to get in touch.
He said: "To be fair to Javier, he's had a tough World Cup and I believe he's gone back home to Argentina. It's not always easy to get in touch."
