Liverpool boss Hodgson fancies trumping Man Utd for Defour

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is keen on Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour.

Defour, currently recovering from a foot injury, is regarded highly by Hodgson, who hopes to trump Manchester United for the Belgium international.

United are regarded as favourites for Defour in Belgium, but manager Sir Alex Ferguson has concerns over the player's fitness.

Milan Jovanovic has urged Hodgson to bring his former Standard teammate to Anfield as soon as he can.
