Liverpool boss Hodgson: Everton rivalry as passionate as ever

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson expects the rivalry with Everton to continue, despite his friendship with David Moyes.

The two managers became close having spent time together in Italy.

But Hodgson told liverpoolfc.tv: "David was completing his pro-license and had to choose a club to visit to study the club and coaching that was going on. He was advised by friends to go to Udinese, where I was working. He was the manager of Preston at the time and we had a very nice week together.

"You could tell he was going to be an excellent manager. He started off on the first rungs of the ladder by being a player-coach at Preston. I am pleased for his success and remember very fondly the time we had together but I think that Liverpool will always be Liverpool, and Everton will always be Everton. I don't think you could have your best friend sitting on the other seat and your worst enemy on the other. I don't think it will change a lot."
