Liverpool boss Hodgson determined to beat Man Utd for Defour

Liverpool intend to challenge Manchester United for Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour.

The Telegraph says Defour has been a long-term target for the Liverpool manager, Roy Hodgson.

At 22, and around £12 million, Defour represents minimum risk for maximum reward.

The player fits the new model Liverpool owners NESV see as their blueprint for future transfers.
