Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is confident he can work with new football chief Damien Comolli.
Comolli, who quit as St Etienne's sporting director to join the Reds, had several bust-ups with then Spurs boss Martin Jol during his spell in London.
Jol was eventually sacked, complaining the Frenchman signed players without his agreement. Comolli also got the bullet when Juande Ramos was chopped.
But Hodgson hit out at suggestions that he is on a sure-fire collision course with the new director of football strategy.
He added: "That is looking at a positive appointment in a negative way, where all of a sudden the owners insist on Damien's say-so that we must bring this player or that to the club.
"I can't imagine it happening but who knows? If that day comes, God forbid, I will deal with it."
