Liverpool boss Hodgson big fan of Everton rival Moyes

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is happy to see his former protege David Moyes doing so well with Everton.

Moyes and Hodgson became close in 2001 when the Everton gaffer, who was in charge of Preston at the time, was studying for his UEFA Pro Licence.

Every student is required to choose a club and coach to follow, and Moyes heeded advice to spend a week in Italy with Udinese, where Hodgson was then in charge.

Now the pair are working closely again, with only Stanley Park separating them.

Hodgson said: "You could tell David was going to be an excellent manager.

"I am pleased for his success and remember very fondly the time we had together."
