Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was delighted to wrap up the signing of Mikel San Jose from Athletic Bilbao last week.

"Mikel can play in central midfield or centre half. He won the Under-19 tournament with Spain during the summer and is a good prospect for the future," enthused Benitez.

"He was part of the Spain team which won the European Under-19 Championships. He is a player for the reserves now but for the first-team in future. He can play as a central midfielder or a centre-back."
