Liverpool boss Dalglish tips Enrique for Spain

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish believes new left-back Jose Enrique could force his way into the Spain national team.

The former Newcastle United star has begun life well at Anfield, playing in all seven Premier League matches since his arrival, and Dalglish says he has what it takes to join Vicente Del Bosque's star-studded squad.

"He wants to improve. I know he is desperate to be part of the Spanish squad in future," said the Scot.

"If he continues the work he's doing and manages to improve then I am sure he will make the squad, no problem."

Enrique also received plenty of praise from Reds assistant Steve Clarke who told liverpoolfc.tv just how impressive the 25-year old has been.

"As an ex-full-back myself I can appreciate the work he's doing for the team - both in attack and defence," Clarke said.

"I'm sure he'd be the first to admit he's got lots of things he can work on to improve but from what we've seen so far from him he should be pleased with himself and the contribution he's made.

"We've been impressed by the way he's gone about his business day-to-day in training and I think that is when you get to know your players best, by working with them every day."
