Liverpool boss Dalglish: Kaka wanted to HURT big Andy

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish was delighted with Andy Carroll over how he kept his cool after being hit by a disgraceful elbow from Braga defender Kaka last week.

Dalglish knows how dangerous a lunging elbow can be after his own cheekbone was shattered by one from Manchester United's Kevin Moran 27 years ago.

But the Anfield legend knows the best retort from Carroll would be pointing at the scoreboard come the final whistle.

The Geordie striker showed remarkable restraint in keeping his cool - but Dalglish thinks Kaka and Co could pay the price in another way.

Dalglish, aiming to take another step towards the full-time job tonight, added: "I know how dangerous it can be and not just because of what happened to me. You have seen it happen to a lot of other people.

"There is one thing going up to protect yourself, it is another completely going up to hurt an opponent - and that was to hurt Andy.

"To do what he did last week, which was keeping his composure, is great credit to him. Now the best way for Andy to answer anything is to be on the winning side.

"That's the same for everyone because they will all be aggrieved. The best way to vent our anger would be to get a good result."
