Liverpool boss Dalglish full of praise for matchwinner Meireles

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish was full of praise for matchwinner Raul Meireles after victory at Chelsea.

The Portugal midfielder showed great reflexes in managing to turn in a half volley past Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.

"He's in a real rich vein of form at the moment," said Dalglish. "He gets forward to support Dirk. It's a really difficult job up there for Dirk on his own and he ran around tirelessly.

"Raul's very good technically and he's been fantastic since I came in. As a reward for his hard work and ability he's scored a few goals."

Another man on the receiving end of glowing words from Dalglish was Jamie Carragher who completed 90 minutes on his first game since November 28.

"It's like getting a new player in because after he did his shoulder at Tottenham he was a long time out," said the boss.

"It's great credit to Carra's level of fitness, especially at his age. He's not a teenager any more.

"His heart and his determination and his pride to play for the football club saw him through as well. I don't think tomorrow morning he'll be feeling as good as he does today!

"It was very important for us to have him in defence today to talk and encourage and push people into positions. He's a fantastic asset to this football club."
