Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish cannot believe the new season will kickoff at the back end of an international round.
The big kick-off on Saturday August 13 comes hot on the heels of a Wednesday night when England play Holland, Scotland host Denmark and the Ireland tackle Croatia.
Liverpool boss Dalglish rapped: "Why does the season have to start on a Saturday?
"Clubs are doing their best to bring in good players and that usually means they are international players.
"There is a free week after the first weekend so I don't understand why we can't start on Sunday.
"That would prevent players having to travel back on Wednesday night in time to play on Saturday.
"If you are going to have international games, then have them. But, to me, it's common sense to put the league games back a day if it's possible."
