Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez admits he must sell if he is to complete the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry.

Benitez said: "We knew we could only spend money by selling players and we have been doing this for Keane. We're still trying to sign the players we need. If we need to sell someone, OK, we will.

"If we can do the Barry deal before the end of the transfer window, we will continue to try. We will always continue to improve our squad."

Jermaine Pennant, Andriy Voronin or Steve Finnan could all be candidates for the Anfield exit, says The Sun.

But it is still more likely Benitez will persuade Xabi Alonso to leave if he can get £15m plus for the Spanish midfielder.
