Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has reflected on the first goal scored by record signing Fernando Torres.

Torres struck in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea and Benitez told liverpoolfc.tv: "The players know now that Torres has pace and he can score the goals that we need.

"Fernando showed pace and quality, he scored a great goal for us and the supporters.

"He learned a lot from the game but it is still too early to judge him. He will need a little more time.

"He was playing against the best defenders in England and he had no problems.

"I am very pleased and for the future it was positive. He showed the quality he has and we will see more goals from him."
