Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was happy with Jamie Carragher's performance at right-back in yesterday's 3-0 victory over Sunderland.

Ahead of the match Benitez opted to play Martin Skrtel alongside Sami Hyypia at the heart of the Liverpool defence with Carragher moving to right back.

It was a surprise selection that ultimately paid off as the vice-captain was instrumental in setting up the opener with a probing run and cross from the wing.

"We were trying to change things a bit," explained Benitez told liverpoolfc.tv.

"I knew that as a defender he is a good defender but maybe I didn't know he was so good as a winger!"
