Liverpool boss Benitez expects loyalty from unsettled duo
Rafa Benitez is calling on Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano to stay at Liverpool out of loyalty to the club.
Both have both been strongly linked with moves away from Anfield to Spain this summer.
"I do not think Alonso or Mascherano will go. It is clear that they both are under contract with long-term agreements. That is it," insisted Benitez.
"There has been a lot of things written, a lot of rumours, but both players are under contract and we have no more need to talk about things.
"They are both very good players and I will be very pleased to keep them. They both have very good contracts.
"We signed them both from different situations. Alonso was coming from Real Sociedad and nobody had really heard much of him outside of Spain, he did well and we renewed his contract because of that.
"Mascherano came from West Ham where he had not been doing well. We brought him here and gave him a good contract, so we are very pleased with them both and that Liverpool has been very good to them."

THEY CANT WAIT TO GET AWAY FROM BENITEZ , AND LIVERPOOL,TWENTY NINE STAFF SACKED WITH OVER A HUNDRED AND FIFTY TEARS SERVICE, INCLUDING EX PLAYER GARRY ABBLETT, HE IS THE MAD PROFFESER AND A COMPLETE CONTROL FREAK. HE WILL TAKE LIVERPOOL OUT OF THE HIREE LEVELS OF FOOTBALL AND WILL BLAME THE YANKS FOR NOT GIVING HIM THE MONEY HE WANTS, HE HAS HAD ENOUGH TIME AND MONEY, AND WILL WALK AWAY AT THE DROP OF A HAT.
i think what some of you people dont realize about his rant on moneybags is that there is a difference between the value of the player..and the value of the player to the club, when players dont wanna leave, and the club doesn't wanna sell yet there are offers, you're gonna quote him at the value to the club, where as if the player is surplus and is wanted by someone else thats when there is value of the player, Benitez is pricing them otu of the market, its not hypocritical dipshit its actually smart, and working the situation to your advantage, in this environment no one wants transfer fees of upwards of 40 mil, but did oyu expect him to say, oh no i'll ignore transfers and give him out for 8 mil or 10? no way in hell..this coming from a chelsea fan no less
they wont go its all PAPER TALK. i notice they arent linking any man u players to leave....
