Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is closing in on Valencia winger David Silva. Marca says today Benitez has made fresh contact for the Spain international after pulling out of previous negotiations in March over leaks coming from the Valencia camp.

Jose Segui, Silva's agent, admitted there has been offers arriving for the winger yesterday, without naming Liverpool.

However, this morning's Spanish press insist Benitez is determined to see off competition from Juventus to land Silva this summer.
