Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is determined to keep hold of midfielder Javier Mascherano.
The Daily Mail says with Real Madrid closing in on Xabi Alonso, Benitez will now concentrate on trying to keep Mascherano, despite Barcelona's interest, and will use the funds from Alonso's transfer to continue re-building his team.
