Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez wants quicker action in the transfer market.
As he prepares to say goodbye to chief executive Rick Parry, Benitez said: "We need to approach players quickly.
"If you have not got as much money as some clubs, you have to do that to give yourself a better chance of signing the players you want."
Referring to continuing uncertainty over his future, Benitez added: "There has been dialogue between my lawyers and the owners' advisers over my contract, and another meeting is planned."
