Liverpool boss Benitez demands lengthy bans for Man Utd stars

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is demanding lengthy bans for Manchester United's players embroiled in last week's clash at Chelsea.

Benitez, reflecting on how Javier Mascherano missed three games for disputing a red card at Old Trafford, has urged the FA to hand out similar bans to Rio Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves and Patrice Evra for their part in the battle of Stamford Bridge.

"Hopefully the FA will have the same approach as they did when they had the case of Mascherano," said Benitez. "They set out then to give an example to all the kids watching, to show what behaviour in football must be like.

"I will now watch their decisions about what happened after the game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to see what they do this time."
