Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez says there was no persuading Peter Crouch to stay.

Benitez sold Crouch last season to Portsmouth before he eventually joined Tottenham in the summer.

Benitez now has a shortage of strikers, but told The Times: "He is a fantastic boy and very clever, but he knew that Torres was the first choice and it would be more difficult for him."
