Liverpool boss Benitez concedes he needs new players

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has conceded that the club needs new players if they are to gain success.

Following the Reds Europa League semi-final loss to Atletico Madrid on away goals, the Spaniard said he agreed with the call that the Merseyside club needed to strengthen their squad going forward although he admitted it may be tough due to a lack of funding.

"Someone said we needed four or five players. I would more or less agree with that. That is what we have to do," he said.

"Liverpool is a massive club. There has been a change in the last two or three years. We have had to balance the books and manage in this way.

"I do not know whether I will have any funds. We will find out in the summer. But the name is there and we have to do our best for it."
