Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has played down new injury fears for Fernando Torres.

Torres was substituted after getting a kicking from Benfica's defenders on Thursday night.

"We took Fernando off because he was tired," Benitez said, ruling out suggestions that Liverpool's top scorer could have suffered an injury.

"After a couple of days' rest we will check with all of the players and see how each one is. If we have to rest someone we will see because we want to keep the performance at the same level. But at this moment I don't see anyone as a risk.

"It's always difficult when the pitch isn't good enough, so we will have to see. The pitch will be the same for both sides, but we will have to show character too."
