Liverpool boss Benitez admits Torres no guaranteed starter

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez insists fit-again Fernando Torres is no guarantee to start against Bolton today.

Benitez said: "The other night showed he is very, very short and will need time. It will be two or three weeks before he is ready.

"It wouldn't be a risk to start him but starting with him on the bench is an option.

"I like him competing for his position. Clearly he is not 100 per cent fit in terms of his sharpness.

"He started the other day because he is available. But it's not the same when you play a cup competition and when you play in the league and you are top of the table.

"I've got to decide whether I want to change something.

"Torres is a fantastic player but we have Keane and Kuyt playing well so he has to compete.

"He knows he can't rest on his laurels. We used Fernando for 55 minutes and he didn't play well because he needs time after his injury."
