Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is hopeful that Javier Mascherano could be fit for Sunday's Premier League clash with Chelsea. A hamstring problem kept the Argentine international out of Wednesday's 2-0 defeat to Fiorentina in the Champions League.
"Javier trained today so hopefully he will be fit for Sunday," Benitez told the club's official website.
"For us he is a key player. He is a very good worker in the middle and he can keep the balance of the team."
Defender Daniel Agger, who played midweek in the reserves is also a contender.
"Daniel trained today. I watched the DVD of the reserve game and he did well," Benitez added.
"Maybe he will have a chance for Sunday - we will see.
"He is a player who can defend really well but he also has quality in possession. It will be good to have him back."
