Liverpool board furious with cheeky Newcastle bid for Carroll

Liverpool are unimpressed by Newcastle United's bid for Andy Carroll.

West Ham United chief Karren Brady, who also tried to land Carroll this summer, wrote in her diary for The Sun: "I like a bit of cheek and Newcastle's offer to pay half of Andy Carroll's wage, said to be £80,000 a week, for a season-long loan must have been that.

"Newcastle add that they will eventually pay a £12million fee - a considerable drop from the £35m they took from Liverpool in January last year.

"A nice newspaper like The Sun can't print the expletives used by a top Reds executive on the phone today to describe the offer to me. I almost blushed."
