Liverpool star Dirk Kuyt admits he never was destined for a football career.

Kuyt was working as an odd-job tradesman before football gave him his chance.

"My dad was a fisherman, and I had a job painting houses," explains the 31-year-old. "Then I got into professional football and here I am going to Wembley again.

"I came to Liverpool, one of the biggest clubs in the world, to win trophies. Now I have got that winners' medal in the Carling Cup I am really hungry for success."
